Companion at Carter Mill Apartments

The staff is courteous, personable, and more helpful than any other apartment complex I've ever lived in. The apartments themselves are comfortable and the maintenance is solid and responsive. The biggest issue is noisy neighbors (stomping mostly, occassional arguments), but even that isn't a constant problem.

Decent place to reside, overall the price you pay for apt sq ft is a bit high, the kitchen is very small and same goes for the gym. If not timed right to use them, end up waiting on people that just go there to hang and take up space leaving little room to do anything. Place provides on site laundry for a bit pricey rate/wash or dry. Hit or miss one of the washers just breakdown mid wash. Pot smells getting worse on weekends. Ask the user to stop and they get defensive and rude.

I've lived at Carter Mill for 12 years and have found it to be a safe family/pet friendly community. As with all large family style dwellings there are minor irritants, but the office staff quickly respond to any complaint or concern. They go out of their way to assist when any family is in need, when you need to get rid of excess items and with keeping us informed of community events. We are located less then 10 minutes from Shaw AFB and are within a short distance from shopping and restaurants. There is also a very nice (sidewalk) area that is used for running and walking. I sincerely thank Carter Mill for all their support to me and my family over the past 12 years.

For the price, I was really expecting better. The apartments are never power washed. I can’t even walk up the steps and go into my apartment without spiderwebs and spiders/bugs getting on me. The least they could do is clean the stairs and walkways. We shouldn’t have to walk into spiderwebs literally every day. They’re all over and hanging low too. I’m not sure where all the money renters pay is going because the place is nasty. For as much as we pay, you would think they would atleast clean. But nope. I sweep my front door area but that’s only so much since the entire steps on both sides are still covered. Also, they don’t enforce cigarette smokers. People smoke and throw all their cigarettes on the steps and that’s a safety hazard if one isn’t put out all the way. For little kids and pet

I’ve lived here for just over a year and it’s been great. When I have an issue Rick the maintenance guy is on it usually within hours or the next day and within minutes for emergencies such as heat/AC. Jen and Kim at the office are also great. I let them know that the grill was broken at the pool over the summer and they had a new one out there the very next day. The complex is a little dated (was built in early 2000s but its perfectly fine. You will not find granite counter tops here but for the price you can’t beat it. Apartment life is expensive enough so I’m content.
