Chestnut Lake

Lived here for 4 months so far, and so far everything has been pretty good! I find the utilities being covered by rent such a lifesaver, especially in winter, and I have had zero issues with noise or smells and the AC and Plumbing have been perfect. Only reason I give four stars is because some furniture has been worn down quite a bit, I have had to replace both the towel bar and toilet paper holder in the bathroom, and when I moved in the door to the bathroom was installed wrong and I got locked in. Overall those are small quality of life things that don't effect the overall livability and/or it was easy to fix.

Good apartments, maintenance is usually responsive and quick, sometimes the office passes fees to tenants that I don't think should be the tenants' responsibility, but good otherwise

So far, I've had a good experience at Chestnut Lake. I think they had some changes in management in the last couple of years. The current management has been nice and on top of things. I haven't needed any maintenance done on my unit. When they need to do building maintenance or upgrades they give notice a few days in advance. Move-in went smoothly - everything was clean and in good shape when I moved in. They do a good job of keeping the walkways clear and cleaning up the grounds and common areas. I've never had problems with heat, A/C, or hot water. I'm very cozy in my apartment. Many of the neighbors have pets but they're not messy or noisy. You can hear EMU's football stadium from my apartment but it's not too loud. I couldn't give 5 stars. My building is fine but a few other building

Pros: quiet, good neighbors, great storage space, decently fast snow/ice cleanup on the sidewalks, same-day maintenance for small concerns, friendly office staff, friendly maintenance, nice pool, nice playground. Cons: price going up, it was $1035 for a 1-bed when I moved April of 2023. Now in Feb 2025 it's $1145. The condition of the property has not substantially improved to justify that rise in cost. Ants. Ants everywhere. Tiny little grease ants that don't respond to the normal ant traps. Had to set out raw meat and boric acid to slowly kill them off, and that took months. Then they came back. Very frustrating. Also took a few weeks to replace a stinky fridge, and they did not communicate on the status of said fridge and left me wondering if it was coming or not. New office manager is
