Blacherne Apartments

I lived here for 2 years and my girlfriend lived here for 3 years. Before I say anything I want to say Layla, Kimberly and all of the other managers in the leasing office were amazing. I have nothing but good things to say about the employees in the building given the hand they have been dealt. They are the only reason I’m giving two stars and not one. The building is in constant disrepair. The freight elevator / garage elevator is almost never in service and when it’s “repaired” it’ll be in working condition for 48 hours at best. We went 3.5 months with no washer or dryer on our floor as well as many other floors. The carpets and floors of the hallways are dirty and sinking in and uneven. The back stairwell often floods when it rains. Water will pour into the stairwell from the roof. Pay

My previous review was removed so I’m leaving this review again. I stayed here from 2018-2023. The last property manager (heavy set woman) before I moved out was very rude and acted like she did not want to be there. However, Isabell and Hannah were always pleasant and professional . I never had issues living here as far as crime and it was perfect when I worked downtown because it was within walking distance of my job and had grocery stores, a library, and entertainment nearby. Parking was uncomfortably tight in the garage. There was also a gym that had been recently remodeled and had nice equipment. I've been here a week and was so excited to move in but the elevator has been down the entire time. The elevator was supposed to be up and running "in a few hours" and I was assured it's not a common occurrence but as a new resident, I have no idea if that's true. Climbing up 5 flights of stairs while trying to set up my apartment has been such a hassle. I've already twisted my foot once climbing the stairs while carrying up a few boxes. I already regret signing the lease.

I have loved living here the past 2 years! Staff and maintenance are very friendly and responsive, and common areas are clean. Ideal location as it is a 5min walk from Mass Ave, cultural trail/canal, war memorial parks, and downtown library. The building itself has a lot of charm compared to some of the newer downtown apartments, and comes at a very reasonable price. Also includes reasonably priced parking in attached garage.

Love love love! The floor plan is great! It's been nearly 2 years for me. A very historical vintage look & a convenient area. Short walking distances to venues. Great views of parades, marathons, weddings. Very few noise disturbances. No pets which is what I needed, but will see pets in outside areas with owners.I can't ask for more. Leasing personnel & maintenance personnel are great. Thanks!
