Yellowstone Log Homes

Purchased plans put money down on home. Wasn’t told until ready to cut logs they could not supply materials ordered even though they own the building supply store next door. We were unable to receive plans. Advised we could cancel order and charged $150.00. We cancelled order but would not reimburse for plans not received then kept almost $2,000.00 of our deposit after their cancellation of materials.

Working with a buddy to build his home with logs supplied by Yellowstone. There is good and bad to the supplied materials. The logs are dry and tend to be straight which was very nice. The quality of the cope on the logs varies greatly depending on how much extra peeling the log required. There were also mistakes on their end: posts that were missed on the cut sheet, end copes made to the wrong diameter, posts that should have been coped that were not, copes off layout for floor joists. Some of the supplied materials were very nice and some probably should have been rejected in particular load bearing posts with large splits running full length. I have talked with these people in preparation of planning to build a log home. I have found Ar B to be very friendly, professional, and helpful. What I do NOT find helpful are these reviews of 1:star that say absolutely NOTHING about why you give them 1 star. What was your problem? Did you talk to them and they didn’t respond? Was the quality of the wood/caulk/plans ....... bad? What was the problem? Why are you even bothering to leave a rating? It doesn’t help anyone if you don’t explain.

I have used these guys 3 times and the manager or person in charge Brett is truly top notch. Very professional and helpful all around. I will do business with them many times more. Thank you again.
