I used to dream of living at Westlake Apartment Homes in Sanford, FL because the property is beautiful — but that dream quickly turned into a nightmare. What should have been a simple process to move from a 2-bedroom to a 3-bedroom after my lease ended became an absolute disaster. The management team — including Ariana, Gabriel, and the office manager Olivia — handled everything with a shocking lack of professionalism and organization. They even accused us of being dishonest during our conversations and repeatedly twisted our words. Communication was manipulative and disrespectful, making the entire experience exhausting. Only a couple weeks into the lease here. Moved in days before Christmas. These people have an office full of phones and business lines that they pay for, but apparently they just pay to keep the phones around bc they like to sit there and stare at them as they flash and ring like autistic children with sensory toys. 95% of the time it is 100% impossible to get an onsite worker who can actually do something about your problem on the phone. After it rings the office and they’ve had their fun clapping and giggling at the noisy phone, your call is sent to some call center in a different country with call reps that barely speak comprehensible English. This is by far the worst move out experience I've ever had. I moved from here in April 2024 and I made sure there was nothing owed and the apartment was clean. I provided a forwarding address in case of any additional move out costs. 2 months passed and nothing came in the mail, only to receive a collections notice for $645. You guys have not sent me any mail prior. I called numerous times to get a breakdown of what the $645 is for but of course no one answers the phone. I literally left that apartment move-in ready. Only thing that was needed may have been the carpet but $645 is ridiculous. I have great credit and now you guys want to send a debt to collections when I wasn't aware I even owed anything. Place is covered in dog poop. Kids can’t even play at the playground without getting it on their hands and shoes. Property claims to clean it up but I have cameras outside and no one comes to clean it. Property management banned my husband from the office for complaining about it. It’s unsanitary and a health issue. Other tenants are experiencing the same issue and are planning to break their lease / not renew and a few have already left. There’s nothing “luxury “ about this place. It’s all a front. Summer is a nightmare. Pool gets packed with a bunch of drunk adults and everyone’s speakers compete with eachother.

DO NOT MOVE HERE !This property demonstrates a complete lack of professionalism and accountability. I had a pest control issue where the vendor stated a follow-up treatment and inspection would occur. It did not. Management then claimed the matter was “completed and finalized” without notifying me and ignored every request for clarification in writing. Fees, however, were applied promptly. The pattern is clear: collect payment, avoid communication, and dismiss the tenant. If you expect transparency, follow-through, or basic respect, this is not the place. You will be nothing but a dollar sign to Westlake. They have treated me like pure trash. These apartments are not even that nice. Trust me save yourself the headache and don't move here.
