Amy will steal your application fee do not apply. Amy failed to mention the deposit and first months rent needs to be paid immediately for 3115 Mt pleasant St unit 003. I counted 8 dead roaches on 2 tours. I was approved and let her know when I would be able to pay the deposit in person. She follows up with an email letting me know it's need to be paid by the 21st. I was approved around the 11th with a move in date of the 29th no holding fee offered or anything. Just continuous " oh I can put it back in the market" but never took it off. I feel like she did not want to rent to me as a carribean/black individual because she constantly kept offering " well if you don't want the unit I can show it on Saturday" all because i requested the unit be cleaned prior to move in. I strongly recommend Watassa Management to renters. Throughout my one year lease I dealt exclusively with Amy, and she consistently made the extra effort to ensure I was comfortable in my home. Whenever I needed maintenance or had a concern, Amy made sure it was handled quickly and done right. I only moved to another property at the end of my lease because I needed to downsize to a studio and they had none available in my neighborhood. In my experience, renting can be frustrating for tenants, but Amy was consistently reliable and treated me with dignity and respect, which should be the norm for the industry but sadly is not.

I am living in a Watassa managed building and it has been a great experience so far. From leasing through maintenance, they are always easy to get in touch with for questions or concerns and address all needs promptly. Plus the units are extremely nice and they have an easy to use portal. Amy is the best and is always available and helpful - she even helped me when I was locked out of my apartment late at night. Highly recommend any Watassa managed building!

I've been living in a building managed by Watassa for 8 months now, in Takoma Park. The building manager, Amy, is responsive and has helped me with many questions and issues I've had. Anytime I have an issue (e.g., faulty bathroom fan or issue with the dish washer), someone comes to fix it in less than a week, often within days. Pest control also visits the building periodically and I've never had any issues with vermin. While the outside of the building and the shared spaces are not super well maintained (no gardener for example and the basement is not regularly cleaned), the inside of my small apartment is well maintained and nice.

Most difficult property management I have dealt with. After being timely rent paying tenants for a year (and some for upwards of 13 years) the company began leaving documents on our doorsteps letting us know they were about to do disruptive renovations and that this somehow should incentivize us to sign a 70% voluntary agreement, which would legally allow the rent increases up to 60% for new tenants, not specifying what new constituted. Also tried to hold my unit financially accountable for rent two months past what was legal per our lease. Had to get the Office of the Tenant Advocate involved.
