Ulster Gardens Apartments

I really love this place. It has many areas to congregate, a reading room, sitting room, and even a party room with kitchen and an elevator. A relative was searching for a place to move. I was shown a ground floor apartment by Patrice and it was very cute! It was in the senior section, a one bedroom apartment. Open concept see through living, dining and kitchen area with Lots of light, a small half wall separating kitchen from Living Room, Dining Area. The kitchen had enough light oak cabinets, sink, fridge, stove with enough counter space and even room for a narrow table for two. I was impressed with the huge white bathroom which seemed almost as large as the bedroom! It has a big shower lots of area to place a vanity, or shelving units, and still enough room for lots more. I suppose

Managers Ken and Tyler are great. I left my freezer door open overnight but Ken had the incessant noise and the accumulations of ice fixed in so little time without the least indication of impatience or judgment.

My mother in law moved in when this complex first opened. It was very nice and roomy. Management was very accommodating and friendly. However, once the office personnel was changed, so did everything else. A couple of years ago, she experienced a episode of bed bugs. It took a couple of treatments before getting rid of them. She had no choice but to get new mattress, and linens. Also had to dispose of all her books and any other paper goods at her own expense. Her a/c had had problems since day 1. It has never been resolved. Upon her death, when we went to inform the office, they treated my family very harshly and rude .... showed no compassion at all. Lived there 6 years. First 3 years were fine-management was professional and responsive to tenant's and issues on property. Then a new manager (Janine T,) and maintenance crew (James H. and Kenny B.) came in and the place took a nose dive. Different set of rules and privileges for staff living on premises (smoking, supervision of children, noise level,etc), friends of staff and then just your average lease abiding tenant. Maintenance does special tasks for some tenants (cleaning snow off and moving cars in winter) and not for others. Ongoing problems with security...alarm going off (sometimes for over 16 hrs alarming) and when notifying maintenance, (Kenny) the reply was "Mind your own business." I was the first Tennant to sign lease in the 2000 building. It's well insulated and low electrical bills usually around $50.00 a month for all heat and a/c, good deal. What was not good was the bed bug outbreak. It started on the second floor, and spread up to the 3rd floor and 1st floor. My apartment became infested with bedbugs. Management had no patience or compassion for those of us being attacked by bed bugs every night. We are poor seniors, it was a huge cost to remedy the situation. It broke my spirit and I moved out, as did my neighbor. The person who brought the bed bugs still lives there. The poor old lady on the first floor who lived under the second floor apt where the bed bugs originated from died, or moved. Sad. If the bed bug situation is resolved I'd move back bu
