The Slate

We decided to move into Slate Apartments because my sister-in-law lived here about three years ago and had an amazing experience. Back then, it was clean, quiet, and well-managed. Unfortunately, it’s obvious the quality has gone downhill since then. When we moved in, the apartment itself was dirty — not at all what you’d expect when you’re paying this much. I didn’t even have drip pans for the stove for an entire week, which was just the first sign of how slow and unorganized management can be. Maintenance feels inconsistent, communication is poor, and simple issues drag on far longer than they should. On top of that, the building is not well kept. I had the pleasure of touring The Slate Apartments recently, and I must commend Ms. Macon for her outstanding guidance. Her comprehensive knowledge of the property and its amenities was impressive. She made sure to highlight everything from the stylish apartment layouts to the community events that foster a welcoming atmosphere. Ms. Macon’s enthusiasm and attention to detail made the walkthrough not just informative but genuinely enjoyable. The Slate Apartments are certainly worth considering.

We had a family member that was looking for a new home and a church member had referred us to The Slate Apartments. I must say, from our very 1st encounter, all the way through the move-in, we experienced NOTHING LESS than AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE from the agent Ashayla Macon!!!! Young and professional, a combination you don’t come across quite often nowadays, she was friendly, courteous and very considerate of our time. She walked us through seamlessly and answered all of our questions thoroughly. We are so glad we picked The Slate and my family member is beyond happy to call it their NEW home!! Thanks again, Ashaayla!!

DON’T DO IT!!! We lived at the Slate 2 different times. Approximately February 2021-August 2023 and April 2024-August 2024. We originally chose The Slate bc it was close to downtown and the most affordable “luxury” apartment complex. We soon encountered multiple instances that reflect my one star review during BOTH times we lived here!! 1. Trash - There was no trash pickup and each tenant was responsible to bring their own trash to the compactor for $10/month fee. (Which we liked bc we brought our trash when necessary).Then when our lease renewed we began being charged $25 instead and they had a trash service that picked up our trash for us the first company they hired never took our trash. Always saying it wasn’t out there, it was too heavy or it wasn’t inside the trash can. Which were a

A bait and switch place to live. They court you and are very nice and thorough and responsive as you are signing and moving in. Then, you're left in the dark. Communication is unclear, office staff know next to nothing and are never there when they are supposed to/say they will be, getting maintenance to some work on something takes forever, the facilities are always broken--for example, there has been an overflowing dumpster right in the front of the complex for over a month--people park in handicap spaces and non-existent parking spaces, there is always poop on all the grass, the fire pit has never worked, the list goes on and on. Even getting out of the lease is a nightmare. It's just a frustrating place to live. They take your money and leave you out of luck. Unreliable. Unsustainable.
