The Portage

Between the poor building management, poor communication, and rude emails, I would not recommend this apartment as long as it is under Classic City Apartments. I lived there from December 2022 to January 2024, during which the building went through three management companies. When Centerspace and Mann Companies managed the property, living conditions were decent. But once Classic City took over, it felt like they completely abandoned the place. At the time, I couldn’t afford much and I knew what I was getting into: a small studio with no reserved parking (meaning I often parked a block away) and the inevitable hustle and bustle of city life. Those were trade-offs I was ready to make, especially for getting on my feet in my early 20s. I say this to clarify that I am genuinely not trying

The area alone is enough to give this place 5 stars. Right off Lake Calhoun and other Minneapolis attractions. Seems like other residences have had parking issues, but since I've lived here the parking lot has been repaired. I've also only had trouble finding parking in the lot a time or two. There is a free parking lot about a half a block away, so... the times there was no parking, this was a no brainer. Plus, the walk to the apartment from the parking lot isn't a chore... It's through a beautiful field right off a lake. There also seemed to be complaints about the management. Personally, I've never had any issue there. This is Abou, I am a new resident. It's been a pleasant experience for me living here. I would recommend this place to anyone. Beside being one of the best locations in Mpls, the office people are friendly and they really do their best to listen to your concerns. Mike and Nancy have been wonderful to me. They are very respectful.

Great location but thats about it!

The apartment is decent and the staff are always friendly. Email correspondence does take some time.
