The Lofts at Ponemah Mills

My husband and I were super hopeful about potentially moving here after hearing positive things and seeing availability that fit our timeline before welcoming our first child. We submitted an application/contact form over a month ago and recently followed up with a phone call during posted office hours, but unfortunately have not received a response yet. We completely understand that offices can get busy, but communication is really important when you’re trying to plan a move on a time sensitive schedule. While we are still hopeful to hear back, I wanted to share our experience so far for anyone else considering reaching out.

I’ve lived here for 6 years now, and my experience has been over all positive. It is a mix of section 8 housing and regular housing. The population is diverse, ranging from families, retirees, casino workers, electric boat workers, and more. There are plenty of community events and spaces. The gym, community room, movie theater, and game room are majorly underutilized so you’ll often find yourself with free use. The walls and ceilings/floors are not great at blocking sound, so if your neighbor is blasting music or stomping around you will hear it. If you’re sensitive to noise or have never lived in a place where you can hear other people, this is not the place for you. Pets are welcome with a fee and monthly rent. I’ve lived here for 5 years and it’s truly been a great experience. The office staff, especially Yari and Sarah, are approachable, kind, and genuinely invested in the community. They take the time to listen, build real connections with residents, and go out of their way to make it feel like home. They’re especially wonderful with the kids, hosting events like Easter egg hunts, Halloween trunk-or-treats, ice cream socials, Christmas parties, and so much more. The amenities are always well-kept—the gym, game room, and community spaces are maintained beautifully. We moved from out of state almost a year ago, and Ponemah Mills has been an absolute dream! This stunning vintage building with high ceilings is beautifully updated with modern comforts. My daughter and I love it here, and our dog does too! The amenities are incredible — movie theater, game room, billiards, and even a cozy library to relax in. The staff is amazing: the office team is fast and friendly, and maintenance always goes above and beyond. There’s always a fun community event, often with local vendors, making it feel lively and welcoming. I work from home and get to enjoy this vibrant space every day, and I feel so grateful to call it home. Ponemah Mills isn’t just an apartment — it’s a dream come true!

Ponemah Mills is the place I’ve dreamed to live in until I get older and can purchase my own house! I grew up down the road from the mill and always admired its beauty! I have been struggling with the place I’m living at now and the lady at the front desk in the office was super helpful with finding me a new place to live very quickly! I posted in a local church group and she responded to me and has been nothing but great to me! She answered every question under the sun I had and was so positive and always had a smile on her face when I stopped into the office.
