The Jewel at LUX Apartments

The Jewel at Lux is one of the best apartment communities in University City/ La Jolla. Not only is the location super convenient, the building offered everything you need in amenities plus more on top. Very clean, well-built, and organized in every aspect from the full size gym, pool, spa, game room, to even offices for free use to study and work from and I’m still missing more. So glad I moved here it’s made my life easier. The staff are super amazing too, shoutout to the doorman and lobby security man Mike. He’s a very kind gentlemen, always having great conversations with and helping me out in any situation like forgetting my elevator key fob or guiding friends to my unit for any sort of gathering. Thank you Lux team for building the Jewel and thank you Mike!

Great experience so far at The Jewel at Lux Apartments. The building is well run and the service really stands out. Shoutout to Mike the doorman — always friendly, professional, and helpful. He truly adds to the experience of living here.

The trolley screeches right past my living room and bedroom—from 4:30 a.m. to midnight, every 15 minutes. It also blares warning horns so pedestrians don’t cross the tracks, and there’s no sound barrier at all. Traffic on Genesee Ave is loud, too, and the Route 41 bus stop downstairs blasts its announcements. The constant noise ruins my sleep and work; I’m forced to study between midnight and 4:30 a.m. just to enjoy a rare moment of quiet. During the day I’d rather stay on UCSD campus for quietness and don’t want to go home, UCSD 23 story pepper canyon west apartment next to trolley doesn’t have much noises and it’s only $1350 per month for single bedroom. The leasing office refuses to give me a free unit change. This is ridiculous for $5090 per month rent.

Ben is a problem solver. He’s the one that treats me the best here. He really listens to someone’s needs. He hands them what they need not what he wants to sell. He goes above and beyond even helping me take notes of apartments!

SHOUT OUT TO LOLA! Perfect representative to guide us around and assist during the entire application process. My husband and I were touring another property from Garden Communities and that rep actually recommended this apartment complex to us after hearing what we wanted. I was skeptical at first because of the price compared to other properties but we were sold after our tour. Making an appointment to first visit was kind of difficult as it was via email (I tried calling but nobody answered then requested they just call me to schedule but we ended up just emailing back and forth). I hope they streamline this process in the future. Tour was great and showed us both properties in order to decide which apartment we wanted.
