The Helix

I had posted this review on the Local by Laramar page, but it should be here as well: Zero stars is more appropriate. Do not, under any circumstances, rent from a Local by Laramar property. I lived at the Helix, which could be the absolute cutest apartments in all of Denver if it were not run by the most negligent company. When it was run by Cornerstone, it was paradise - wood burning fireplaces, the elevators worked, the grounds were clean, they communicated well. Now that Local by Laramar owns it, it's a dump. Do not be fooled by the showy pictures online, they are from when Cornerstone owned the building - go and see for yourself. But good luck getting in touch with someone - there is no office on site and they don't typically answer the phone. Anyway, let's start with the crime. There

Lived here for a year, definitely enjoyed a low energy bill in the summer with the brick building and north facing unit. Winters the building would get warm when the boiler cooked and the washer/dryers are 3rd party. Had newer appliances that worked well and the units are spacious for the price. Would have re-signed but the location was difficult for my commute. Also thoroughly enjoyed Infinity Park and the restaurants in the area.

Drove down here from Fort Collins for an appointment to look at apartments. Arrived early but the doors were locked and no one was answering the phone. There are two different phone numbers posted on the doors and a different one listed online. Ive called and left messages at all three and now it's 45 minutes past our scheduled meeting and no one has called me back. I can understand it can be difficult to reach the office sometimes but blowing off a scheduled meeting is unacceptable when it takes me an hour and a half to get here.

Hasn’t even been a month yet and I’ve decided I will not renew this lease at all and may pay for a lease break fee. The walls are paper THIN!!! I literally can hear my neighbor’s TV, Piano, intercourse, everything!!!! On day 1 I put in a request to have my leaking tub fixed, it’s been 3 weeks and still nothing after hearing the leasin agent say “we take water serious” bunch of B.S. my balcony screen door is bent up and will barely slide. Only half the blinds open when you twist the rod. You have to manually open the other half. All water throughout the apartment is labeled incorrectly, if you want hot you have to turn it to cold and vise versa. And the hallways constantly smell like Old lady perfume trying to cover up cigarette smells. Cheap price, great location but you can definitely fin

I set up an appointment for a tour. They even texted me a few few hours before to confirm! When I arrived, nobody was there. I texted letting them know I was there and they asked me to reschedule for Monday or Tuesday. SO Inconsiderate and rude. I can’t do Monday and Tuesday because I’m working. But honestly, I don’t want to come back. Somebody had the door propped open and I walked into the hall. It was so dark, and it looked so dirty and peoples doors looked all damaged, like someone had tried to break in . I think I dodged a bullet on this one. lol
