The Grove at Moscow

Ah, the Grove. Probably the worst business I have ever had to deal with. Living there was fine but during move out they will charge you an exorbitant amount of money for things. They charge you double for things. They charge you a cleaning fee for a speck of dirt on the floor. They charged ME for paint to cover up mold that grew in the house. They moved a stranger to my house who then subleased to another stranger that trashed the place and still had the audacity to charge me. The Grove is a shady, shady business - and know that I am not in alone in this opinion - there are countless reviews (or just ask anyone in Moscow who has stayed here) who faced the same issues that I have, and I promise you there will be more. Apartment was really not anything special, furniture is cheap and scratched/chipped, and they WILL charge you for every little thing when you move out. So many other people in the reviews had the same experience, they are crooks. Toilet wasn’t “clean enough” but it was perfectly white and I scrubbed it good, there was literally no reason to charge me $25 for a cleaning that certainly never happened on their end. Tried to dispute it, and another charge for the “missing chair” that was in the dining room and they charged me $90 saying it was missing. I didn’t have a picture of a chair so I couldn’t fight it. The place is lovely! I had no issues communicating my needs and was met with extremely helpful responses. I wish there was a bit clearer of a message about how to use the resident portal, but I figured it out quickly. Would definitely recommend this place to others - my only gripe is the thinness of the building, you can hear sounds that could be coming from a few stories away or right outside your door and not know the difference. Though, not a big issue as it’s expected living in apartments.

The management here is beyond awful. They’re trying to make me pay twice for the same couch damage—damage caused by a cat, even though my daughter asked to be placed in a pet-free apartment. I’ve been calling and emailing for over two months with zero real help. If you care about your child’s well-being, do NOT let them live here!

Do not let your student live here. Management is awful. Be sure to photograph, document every call/visit to the front desk, and save every email communication about repairs. They will try to say you broke things that you didn’t. Take photos and turn in a paper (via email) at check-in to prove things are dirty, broken, etc. Note if the apartment smells like cat pee upon move in, as they do not clean carpet, couches or beds between tenants. They do not clean prior to move-in so you need to prepare to clean! (They will also charge you a cleaning fee at move out, even if it’s spotless.) You will struggle to know the expectations about trash and they will fine you even if they don’t tell you what the rules are. They do not remove trash from the dumpster and it overflows.
