Pros: - apartments are regularly renovated - location is very convenient and close to subways - staff/handyman are amazing (excluding management) - HVAC always worked great - never lost a package here Cons: - still an older building so there are some issues (listed below) - during the winter, the hot water temperature is not stable - pretty noisy, not much soundproofing (even on the 28th floor) - tourists can block the entrance often due to nearby theatres - management are quick to respond to get you to move in and sign the lease BUT after that are not very organized or responsive - management is increasingly becoming cost-cutting -- for example, you are expected to replace the apartment's light bulbs yourself - pricing on the apartments started to feel less reasonable (also why I moved o

I have lived at the Ellington for nearly 35 years. I can say without hesitation that the current Ellington staff, under the leadership of Raul Landeros , is the most competent, capable and efficient team ever to manage the building. Raul runs a tight ship which contributes to the overall living experience at the Ellington.

We’ve been living in The Ellington for about two weeks now and we couldn’t be happier to have chosen this place to call it our home. Since the moment we visited the building from the moment we settled in, all staff has been extremely kind, effective, and accommodating. The leasing agents were extremely helpful, thorough, and responsive through our application process. Moving in was smooth and stress free. Maintenance is very responsive and fast, and all staff has been amazing with us. The apartment’s size is perfect, plenty of storage space, amazing light coming in, renewed bathroom, and top-notch appliances. Everything we need is right outside and even though it is a busy area, noise is not an issue. If you are considering The Ellington, don’t think twice!

I looked at 5 buildings in the neighborhood of the Ellington. Although the Ellington does not have the most amenities(most of which people don’t actually use) it has washers and dryers on each floor and a gym in the basement that was completely adequate and they don’t charge to use it. Besides the extremely convenient location and great apartment layouts, however, it’s the staff that is miles above the competition. When I called the leasing office Alex spent 30 minutes on the phone with me and then invited me to make an appointment to see the apartment. He was very knowledgeable on each of the available apartments and even advised on garages in the area, which nobody does. I recently signed a new lease in this building and it's been a great experience overall. Building is in great condition. Recent renovations of the bathrooms are fantastic. The units themselves are very spacious, offering plenty of room to make yourself at home. The building team is exceptional — super helpful, friendly, and proactive. From the leasing office, which ensured my move-in process was seamless, to the maintenance crew, who have been quick to respond to any requests, the staff really set this place apart from any of the other buildings I've lived in. It’s clear they care about the residents' experience. Overall, highly recommend this building for anyone looking for a central, well-maintained, and professionally managed apartment in NYC.
