The Chelsea

Quiet, friendly community. Management team is very responsive and communicative. There's a ton of cute spaces around the complex to hang out and things are well-lit at night so I feel safe walking around as well.

I lived at The Chelsea for 4 years & never had a bad experience with the staff. Shoutout to Manuel, Sara, & Juan for truly caring about this community! The only downsides to living here is limited ADA accessibility (I was on a scooter for a while & it was difficult to get around) & the buildings are a little old. But if you like being close to downtown & enjoy a dog-friendly community, I would highly recommend!

Pros: • The location is great • The staff is friendly and maintenance is usually quick Cons: • Tiny unit with barely any storage, I didn’t even have enough space to unpack everything • Water shut-offs almost daily • I think the entrance to the apartment is a safety issue, the wall blocks too much of the view to the road and it can be really hard to see cars coming. Also the traffic light skips the apartment exit probably 4/5 times so be ready to wait to leave • The worst thing is the rats living there. I was lucky enough to not have them inside my actual unit, but I could constantly hear them above the ceiling and in the air vents and it was really disturbing. I moved into The Chelsea in January 2025, and the experience has been frustrating from the start. Coordinating my move-in was a nightmare—I was moving across the country and doing a blind move-in, yet getting in touch with management was nearly impossible. I called multiple times, left voicemails and emails, and barely received a response. When I finally got ahold of someone, they incorrectly billed me, which took weeks to resolve—only getting fixed just days before move-in, despite applying well in advance. For $1,300/month, I expected at least a smooth move-in and a livable apartment. Instead, I’ve had better rental experiences in Riverside and Oltorf for $800–$1,200/month. Absolutely LOVED living at the Chelsea. I had to emergency move out of another roach motel apartment in north campus last year and found the Chelsea. They are so cute, renovated, neighbors are usually quiet and clean, and overall just feels very homey. From the beginning the office staff were so nice and helpful and very responsive. When the management changed, I was nervous because usually when that happens they get worse, but it was the exact opposite and the new management team has been great. They are also very responsive and helpful and have been making changes around the complex to be cleaner and nicer like new pool furniture and overall maintenance.
