The Blake

All buildings get bad reviews. Google every single landlord and you’ll see. It’s impossible to please everyone with such a huge building with constant turnovers. Everyone who do take the time to post are mostly complaints so it’s not fair to judge based on a few reviews. With 191 apartments, more than 500 turned over vacancies since listed in StreetEasy and Trulia, I say less than 10 negative reviews throughout the years is an excellent number. My husband and I have moved a lot. I’ve had my fair share of good and bad managements. Aside from this, we interact with tenants and landlords throughout the city due to our work so we get the inside scoop. The Blake is a lovely, well-maintained building with incredible staff. The Superintendent, Building Staff, and Management are always quick to respond to any repairs or inquiries. My partner and I have lived in 4 cities and countless buildings in NYC, and there is a reason why The Blake is our favorite. All the residents I've spoken to seem to feel the same way.

The Blake is a wonderful place to live with an incredibly friendly staff that makes you feel like family. I have lived in several units in this building and all have been some of the nicest apartments in NYC.

When calling to speak about leasing an apartment here, the lady who answered was extremely rude and dismissive. Glad they don’t have what I’m looking for because this clearly shows the type of place this is!

Please take my advice and avoid The Blake apartments. The “management” is nonexistent. The phone number on the horrible, cheap website is the personal phone of the incredibly rude owner. There is zero communication between the owner and her leasing agents; the leasing agent emailed me an application form, and when I called The Blake’s phone number immediately after, the owner angrily told me that the unit is already rented. I cannot even imagine the nightmare that would ensue if there were maintenance or other issues while living here. AVOID FOR YOUR OWN SANITY!
