We love the house itself. Everything else was a horrible experience all around. Symes went out of their way to skirt responsibility for any issues we mentioned and were rude while doing it. Our 30-day "punch list" had 6 minor items on it, and they only handled 3 of them. Little-to-no follow-up or communication during the punch list process. If I didn't hassle them, they didn't respond at all. The landscaping was clearly performed by the lowest bidder. Our entire yard is full of rocks, glass, and trash. The grass has grown in patches and is completely empty in many sections. Our neighbors shed encroached on our land by several feet. It’s been several years since Farm Village in Ipswich was completed and I’ve held off on a review because I feel that time alleviates initial reactions. But 2+ years is long enough to compile what should be said. Overall, we’re somewhat happy with our home, which was not inexpensive, even by North Shore standards. Problems with basic finishing touches: cheapest paint imaginable (like water), plumbing at the bare minimum of passing inspection, wooden decking poorly finished (splinters galore). During the 1 year “grace” period in which a homeowner could lodge concerns and have these concerns addressed the contact folks at Symes were less than congenial or prompt.
