Surfside Park Apartments

Anything that Alma Realty Corp. manages will not be well-maintained. Constant hot water/heat, and elevator issues. Hallway floors are rarely mopped except for the lobby entrance. Nothing is ever replaced or updated- they just slap bandaids on and say “it’s fixed”. Probably the same washer and dryer units from 40 years ago. They look so funky and water is trapped in the glass pane washers. The original floor tiles in the laundry room and everything appears to have not been ever replaced since the building was erected. Aesthetically inside the building, nothing looks appeasing. The walls are yellow and like the laundry room, the flooring throughout the hallways has not been replaced and I am sure is the original tile from the 60s which has not been well maintained. I grew up in 106, in the 1980’s. Lived there until 1998ish. As a child it was awesome. The beach, the pool, movie theater and of course Playland. Great group of friends to grow up with. I remember the rent for our three bedroom was $750.00(my parents), by the time I left, it was $1800.00. Seems as time went by, things very slowly got worse there, as far as property management. I always hated that terrible looking fence along shore front that the new management(alma) put up. It was installed to keep non residents from walking through the property from the train station to the beach. But, the locks on the gates were always broken and you can walk right in, totally defeating it’s purpose. And Alma refused to fix the locks. One day I fixed them myself lol, only for some nimrod to break

Recently moved in and I LOVE IT. Apartment is large and immaculate. View of the ocean to my left and lower Manhattan skyline to my right. Neighbors are very friendly and helpful. BiBi (Alma Realty) is terrific.

Negligent infrastructure, chronic complaints by fellow tenants posted on the private FB page and in tenant meetings (heat/hot water/door locks/elevators out/etc). Great on site staff try to pick up the slack of owner/operator's band-aids.
