*knights at slavo* (update: the pet fee issue was handled. Unfortunately there was so much miscommunication from insurance and surf or sound. It could’ve been handled on a more professional level.) If I could put no stars I would. My family has been going to the outer banks beaches for years and never had an issue until booking a rental with surf or sound. In August 2025 there was a hurricane and my family had to pack up and leave after only one night into the week we had booked. About the house… Pretty awful condition for the thousands we paid to stay there. There was broken glass found on day one in one of the rooms a minor was going to be staying in. The sliding glass door to the pool was broken and wouldn’t slide so you had to walk around the house to get to the pool. There were no to

I’m not even going to disclose which house my family stayed in, because according to other reviews- it seems there are quite a few people disappointed. To start the trip off, we walked inside and the house seemed beautiful! It was pet friendly, so we brought two dogs (that we paid for) and one service animal. Upon opening the bedrooms, we found torn up carpets, doors hanging from the hinges that didn’t shut, scratches from the flooring to about three feet up the walls, and it smelled like cigarette everywhere there was carpet. To make matters worse, we then started finding little bits and pieces of glass everywhere.. think a busted mirror that they half-ass tried to clean up. But at least there was a hot tub, right? Unfortunately, we were evacuated not even 24 hours after checking in-

The house itself was nice and matched the listing, but the pool situation was very bad. We paid extra for a heated pool, yet the heater was broken when we arrived, the pool wasn’t clean, and the gate and fence were unsafe for kids. Despite several calls and promises to fix things, the pool wasn’t usable until near the end of the week, and I ended up repairing the gate myself. Disappointing experience overall — fine house, poor maintenance and follow-through.

Our family absolutely LOVED TIME & TIDE! It is now one of our favorites! Time & Tide is not only beautiful, it is SO MUCH COZIER with the house layout. The house was immaculate, extremely well stocked, great cookware, comfortable beds & furniture, and super nice bathrooms. Heated pool and steps to the beach!!! This year we tried the OUTER BANKS BOIL COMPANY for one of our family dinners. The ENTIRE EXPERIENCE WAS AMAZING. They came in, did all the work & cleaned up all the mess. It was so much fun having all that food poured down the middle of the table. Definitely a new yearly event! The location of Time & Tide was perfect. We rented a golf cart from SLASH CREEK OUTFITTERS ( so much fun) & would go for coffee in morning at DANCING TURTLE, run into grocery store (RED & WHITE MARKET) or

Stayed at a place for a vacation.. overall, horrible. 11 bathroom house with only 3 rolls of toilet paper and 3 soaps. We didn’t get in at 4.. more like 5p & the house wasn’t even clean. No spatula or hand soap.. floors were dirty, multiple areas of water damage around the roof and showers. Pool heater was broken. The elevator is loud.. the worst things, we lost power twice & the water is warm at best to shower. Plus, the trash runs 12a to 3a.. which results in loud banging and you are unable to ignore it.
