Dan Murphy told me my apartment would be ready on July 1st and I still have not gotten ahold of him for my keys and walk through. I went to my apartment on July 2, and I got in through the broken back door. I signed a lease starting the 1st and paid security deposit. I did my walk through and took time stamped pictures showing how the apartment was unlivable. Live wires hanging out of wall in kitchen and no secure locks on ANY doors. I have emailed, texted, called, and left voicemails for 3 days. He did not withhold his side of the lease and I will not be moving in. I will most likely have to take him to court to have my security deposit returned. I would NEVER recommend renting from Stratford reality or Dan Murphy.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I lived in one of their apartments for a year, when they were originally TMJG. They switched over to Stratford 2 months into my lease with no notice. This also happened when we had 250+ hornets in our storage space. They brought a friend of the owner to kill them with Raid and a dustpan while me and my roommate were locked in our rooms. They didn't bring an exterminator. For the hornets to appear in Sept/Oct, that means that the eggs/nest were there in June. I moved in August. They said they would clean the apartment before we moved in, and they clearly didn't. The wood floors were not sealed, so we had every other bug known come through the cracks. I have rented under them for years. Here's what you need to know: They don't answer their phones or emails and their office is usually closed. You either pay rent by dropping off your check in a wire basket and hope for the best, or you use their online pay service. It's a third party service (They say it's safe.) If it is a repair they can do in under an hour, it will likely be done quickly. 50/50 chance it will be done well. If it is a repair that is more severe, expect it never to be done. Things in my apartment they legally must repair but haven’t yet: Broken windows, rust or worn/chipped paint in bathtubs, mice, leaking fridge, oven, damp basement, black mold, exposed leaded paint and foundation issues. This is my last attempt to get my security deposit back before pursuing legal action. I am currently in the process of filing a rent security complaint with the NY attorney general against Stratford Realty, Dan Murphy, and Charlie Parker Holdings. As well as filing a law suit in Syracuse Small Claims court. Dan stopped returning my calls and emails several months ago, I even sent a certified letter with no response. I rented an apartment from Stratford for 6 months from January thru June of 2020. I paid in full over a month before I moved in, and yet when I drove to Syracuse on move in day there was still construction garbage in the apartment and the sliding glass door did not lock. I'm leaving a review since it seems to be the only way to get a response. Dan does not answer his phone or email and ignores maintenance requests. He is impossible to get in touch with. My dishwasher has been broken since I moved in (so have my window latches, shower door, and a couple doorknobs), and Stratford Realty refuses to fix it or even acknowledge the problem, which is illegal. I have tried literally every method of contact I can think of. All I want is for the appliances in my apartment to be in working order. Save yourself the headache and rent from literally anyone else.
