Stearns Street Apartments

Lived here for about a year. loved the location but management was a nightmare. Refused to confirm i had an apartment until 2 weeks before i needed to move in, then said i could move in on a specific date unless my carpet needed replacing. date comes around with no word from them so i show up with all my stuff to find out i couldn’t move in for 2 more days. i had nowhere to go and couldn’t afford a hotel, so i sat there and cried til they said i could move in few hours later. Online it says pet friendly apartments, but it means SOME pet friendly apartments. Doesn’t specify which apartments are pet friendly vs not online and you won’t get to pick anyway because they don’t have an apartment for you until less than a month in advance and it’s a random building. I have lived at Stearn Street Apartments for approximately two months, and I like it. Quiet neighbors, within half a mile of Natural Grocers, within one and a half miles of Whole Foods, within two miles of Wal-Mart, no pests, no mold, good gym (mildly colder than I like; I prefer a warm gym, but I nonetheless visit the gym occasionally for my one-mile treadmill runs), spacious, good design detail, and no problems.

Management is terrible. Everyone in the office is rude, judgmental, and will ignore anything you ask for until you've asked half a dozen times. The place is also infested with mold and bugs. Don't expect to be given a move in date after you get approved. They'll say "we don't know when the repairs will be done" until one day you get a call that it's ready and you have to come sign your lease immediately. They only do lease signings in person and on the day you move in. They also will not give your deposit back regardless of the condition you leave your apartment in. They also charged me $1000 to extend my lease twelve days before I moved out. Parasites.

DO NOT RENT!!!!! I repeat. DO NOT RENT! The apartments might seem nice, but the management and the hell they put you through will not be worth it! They will nickel and dime you until the very end and will somehow manipulate you and your situation in a way to deny your deposit (regardless if you met the requirements, have your apartment cleaned or communicated with them within the deadlines that they require). Every single interaction I had with the staff even from the very beginning was brutal. They are rude, unprofessional, unorganized and clearly do not know how to run a business. I have been a tenant for many landlords over the past 12 years and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. I can not stress enough how awful this place and management team is.

Never rent from them. I paid the deposit and got put on the waitlist. They called to offer me an apartment. When I called them back the same day they told me they gave the apartment away to someone else. Additionally, they told be because they offered, the deposit is no longer refundable. So essentially I paid $300 to fill out an application for an apartment. Thanks for nothing!
