Southern Highlands

I have been a Tenant of this community for 2 years. The Manager, Michelle Washington is a very professional person and she is approachable and friendly, respectful towards me at all times. She is always willing to help. This is a nice place for me to live. Michelle is on top of things that need to get done around here and she really does show pride in being the Manager of Southern Highlands Apartments here in National City. I can tell that many of the other tenants like her as well. The community is very quiet during the day and at night. She has a super staff who gets things done as soon as possible too. I only have positive feedback. They all are doing the best they can do to try to keep this place clean and safe etc.

I currently live here in this community for more than a year. Michelle has always be a good Apartment Manager. She is always willing to patiently explain things to me if I don't understand something.Never had any bad encounters with her. She makes sure that things get done asap.She seems to really care about the people who live here in this community.

This place has been a place to save a bit of money, but you also need to consider how bad the conditions are living in here. This use to be a senior living place so ever since then they haven’t been able to renovate the building. I have a shared balcony this is already something that is not really good since it is connected to the exit gate so it means who ever opens it during the late night someone can come and go into a private property. If you don’t have money to pay parking you have to be careful and make sure to double lock your door in the back of the apartment. Had my car stolen from there and even cops were telling me that most cars gets stolen back there. We got carpets that are rarely cleaned with stains. People don’t even pick up their dog poop in the back so it smells. INFESTED

Over the years I've lived at Southern Highlands the rent has only gone up while services have been decreased. There is no security anymore like there used to be, no activities, and the general look of the place has gone downhill. The carpets are almost always dirty, the patio is grungy, and the patio furniture is rusty with no cushions for the chairs, just steel bars to sit on. The landscaping is awful to nonexistent. The laundry room almost always has broken machines, and the lighting is very bad. If the management can take advantage of you, they will.

I just moved in, and they have a pipe in the hallway that's been leaking all weekend. They said it won't be fixed until Wednesday, that's a lot of water being wasted. We didn't have any hot water for a couple of days because they had to replace the hot water heater, and I hope nothing else goes wrong. 😟
