Visiting the Iconic Karate Kid Filming Location – A Personal Highlight The Karate Kid has long been one of my favorite films, and visiting one of its most iconic filming locations has been at the top of my list for years. Once I pinpointed the exact address, I was eager to simply see the exterior—but the experience turned out to be far more memorable. Upon arrival, I had the unexpected pleasure of meeting a longtime resident who has lived there for nearly 15 years and shares a genuine appreciation for the film. Not only was he incredibly welcoming, but he also generously opened the gate and gave us a tour, including access to the original LaRusso apartment. I love the best filming location at the South Seas Apartment where the first two Karate Kid movies were filmed at. I can imagine renaming it the Karate Kid hotel. The first movie came out on June 22, 1984 and the third movie came out on June 30, 1989.

I used to live there in 1984. The best part was anytime I crashed my Diamond Back, I would throw it away and the next morning, there it was, fixed and looking like new. I think the place was haunted.

I lived here in the 80s and it was pretty quiet except around halloween a bunch of teenage boys dressed like skeletons started shaking the fence out back and started hitting some kid. But the handyman was very nice and fixed my bike he even gave me a bonsai tree and taught me karate.

A must-see around LA. The Larussos lived here in The Karate Kid movie. The parking lot on the side is where Mr. Miyagi's room was located (movie prop). Be respectful of the residents, there are several signs indicating that it is private property. Take your pictures from the sidewalk only.
