Shay Crossing by True Homes

Me and my husband closed on our in May 2025 with True Homes, we worked with Sophie and she was great. Now while I don't have any issues with Sophie I would not recommend using US Bank as a preferred lender, they were truly awful. I do have issues with our home and the contractors they hire to build the homes. The paint in the home seems cheap and we have cracks everywhere throughout the home and the paint has started to fade. Our flooring has come up in certain spots downstairs and even when they came out to make repairs it seemed half done. There are also clumps of paint in certain areas throughout the house. Also they chose not to clear and level out the land we chose to build our house on so our backyard is uneven and dangerous for our toddler who likes to play outside. We weren't told

I had a very frustrating experience purchasing a home at Shay Crossing in Salisbury, NC, and I feel it's important to share it to warn others. From the start, I worked with Sophie (Sales Rep) and Lindsey (Movement Mortgage Lender) who promised me a specific APR and loan terms, including a 2-1 buy down. I went under contract after receiving a quote from Lindsey just to find out she misquoted me and was not honoring the original APR. So, my realtor reached out for clarification with the effort to have them fix their errors so that I could continue the home buying process. I have emails and texts confirming what was promised, and my realtor even presented it to them to ensure it was all in place. The initial meeting with the sales rep was nice. The trip to the design studio was ok, the overall quality of a $350,000 home, totally unacceptable. There are cracks in the home that run from the ceiling to the floor. This is found in my living room, bathroom, stairs, etc. The countertops in my bathroom aren't molded together properly, you can literally push them together. The window in my kitchen isn't placed accurately and cold air continues to steep through.The molding around the backdoor is unfinished, the backyards are uneven, the driveway is cracking, it's just issue after issue. The neighborhood looks appealing, but the people building the homes aren't qualified. True truly took the cheapest route with hiring "contractors" to collect a buck.

The options and homes were beautiful. The representative we spoke with was nice, professional and knowledgeable. We almost decided to make a purchase but noticed that we were quoted $334,000 WITHOUT any customization options. With only 3 options the price skyrocketed to $410,000, for simply adding a porch cover and extending the garage. For $100K less through another builder, we were able to build almost the same spec and quality.
