Unfortunately stayed here for 2 years in a second level unit. Thankfully my boyfriend and I found a beautiful place for same money, much better staff. ☺️ Besides kids digging in the yard creating holes in the summers, it is chaos in the summer, they bang on my front door while they play, they leave toys and bikes, broken water balloon rubber all over the property. There are many parks that are walking distance but parents don’t care. there’s graffiti on the mail boxes, most of the laundry machines don’t work. Staff is always making simple questions into 20 emails back and forth. They state no commercial vehicles can park in the lot they allow some commercial vehicles to park? Lived here for a year. The apartments are infested with roaches that they cannot get rid of, need I say more? Other fun details if you really want: - Dumpster is a good walk away from most apartments, terrible when it's cold out. Also very messy. - Laundry is as well, and the laundry room isn't great. Many of the machines have issues constantly. - You can't control the heat yourself, and there's no A/C in the bedroom. - Blinds are terrible, enjoy having the sun in your eyes constantly. - Walls are thin, and there's often people playing extremely loud music outside. I don't even think they're residents. - Rent increased almost $100 after just one year, though I was planning to leave regardless. - Having renter insurance is required? Rutherford heights is a quiet and safe community which i love, but the maintenance team needs a lot of improvement. Especially when it comes to the shared laundry room. If there are issues in the laundry room i feel as if that’s something that should be dealt with right away! There are always washers not working. The only way you pay to do your laundry is through a card and the card reload machine has lots of issues. i went to go reload my card with cash and now my card is stuck in the machine and I cannot get my laundry done. Doing laundry shouldn’t be this difficult. The washers and dryers have the option to be connected to an app where the resident can pay online and I really think that should be something incorporated. I have been staying in Rutherford Heights from last 2 years with my family and this is my 3rd year here. It has enough parking spaces, has good connectivity to NYC, grocery stores, parks, and schools. The entire process of move-in and staying here is so smooth and gives a pleasant experience to the entire family. I would like to specially mention the names of few people who have made this experience better. JOHANNA at the leasing office and Head Supervisor CARLOS are always kind and helpful and give a quick response to all the queries. There has been a concern of mice in the previous apartment in Rutherford heights but we took some measures to remove them and also got some help from the maintenance office and the problem does not exist in the new apartment that we moved-in recently. The place is good to live except for the terrible maintenance service by the workers, they are rude and incompetent and when the tenants stand up for their rights they threaten them with their lawyers. They harass you from time to time with whatever they want and very often they leave you notes on the door about the rules of the complex, all they do is harass the tenants. Not to mention the roaches out there. The office never answers or returns calls, no matter how many complaints you have, they never listen to you. My daughter was without heat this year for 2 months. They have multiple excuses, the maintenance service is lousy. Workers need more training. And if you have children in this place you will live in constant harassment from workers and management.
