I had a really cool, historic unit in the older part of Richmond for under $800. I was pretty jazzed about it coming from the West Coast because you can't find units like that for that price. The company was fairly responsive to issues that needed repair. You could certainly do worse in terms of property management companies in Richmond. I am giving them 3 stars because they will nickel and dime you for things that in other states would be considered "normal wear and tear" when you move out. I lived in my unit for over 4 years and, as you can imagine, some things will show some wear after 4 years. The maintenance crew had exceptional customer service skills. They answered any concern or problem within hours of a request. I rented from Renaissance for just over a year. My apartment was in a great location in a reasonably well maintained building. They notified me whenever they needed to come to the apartment and were prompt to respond when I called or submitted work orders. Some of the other reviews talk about the security deposit and refunds. I will say straight up that they did keep a portion of my security deposit for cleaning the apartment. And while I did sweep and dust, I did not do a significant deep cleaning, and it is a given that I did not do an extremely thorough job. While I tried to leave the apartment in good shape, I do not deny that deep cleaning is something I really hate, so in my opinion the money they took out of my security deposit was well worth the deep cleaning they likely had
