My wife and I rented from Perkins Realty on Fleming Island from September 2020 to April 2021. Annette Ricks was our contact from the Perkins Realty office and she was wonderful to work with on questions we had and very supportive to us during the time we rented. The property we rented was 20 years old. For every maintenance request we submitted, the work order was timely submitted and worked within a short period of time (within days or a couple of weeks depending on the request). One request for the irrigation system got a call from the irrigation company within 10 minutes and a visit from them that afternoon! I rented a home at 5550 Barrington Ct. Jacksonville, FL, 32258, from Perkin’s Realty from June of 2014-June of 2016. I can honestly say that had I not signed a 2 year lease, I would not have stayed that long. During this two year period our home had many issues. We had a well that broke 2 weeks after we moved in that they refused to repair (It is still broken), a tree that died that they refused to remove, a stove that they refused to repair and that the manufacturer repaired at no cost due to my request because it was clearly a defect, and several very unpleasant exchanges with Roger Perkins. From the very start of our business arrangement, we were put off by the loudmouth know-it-all owner Roger Perkins. We had read some bad reviews about the company, but unfortunately, we were in a time crunch and the house itself met our requirements so we signed the lease anyway. We had had issues with our last landlord leaving it up to us to coordinate repair requests and at the signing Perkins promised that his company would handle everything and that we would only deal with them. Our recent experience with Perkins realty was absolutely discriminatory and horrible. We were lied to on multiple factors about our application and what the requirements were. They said that our credit score is lower than our actual credit score we went to the website they provided and the numbers didn’t match what they said they were. They refuse to put us in a home basically because my husband is deaf and has a service dog which we provided legal proof of after they required it. Roger stated that he would rather rent to someone with bankruptcy or $300,000 in medical bills then to someone with student loan debt who has a decent credit score and a Substantial income.
