I didn't want to use this escrow company, but seller broker insisted. After closing escrow, I was contacted by the real property owner's attorney informing me I purchased a fake property and that I had been defrauded. It's been 6 months and I still haven't collected my downpayment money back from title insurance. When I requested that escrow place a claim through its error and omission insurance, escrow lawyered up claiming they weren't liable. According to the police investigation, several red flags appeared with this transaction and should have been discovered-- escrow never really confirmed the identity of the seller, bank account didn't match the seller's name, etc. These clues were missed, and I'm sure that this mess could have been easily avoided if I used the escrow company that I w
