I rented from Mary for a year and it was a horrific experience. The house was in disarray when I moved in(some outlets didn’t work, funny smell, no sink stoppers, knicks in the wall, ripped kitchen floor, not working washer and dryer, door on laundry closet not attached, back door wouldn’t and still doesn’t lock)we even moved in while they were repairing the AC because she hadn’t taken care of it. Her handyman could not follow a schedule and even showed at 830pm to look at something that needed fixing. A few repairs it took the majority of my lease to fix, my kitchen linoleum was ripped before I moved and it took MONTHS to get it repaired. She would wait till I was at work and then call and tell me her handyman had to get in that day regardless of whether I would be there or not. She

Mary showed me a few apartments for rent. After learning I am a public school teacher, she told me that I “couldn’t afford” the apartments that I was currently looking at unless I got a room mate to pay half the rent. I really didn’t appreciate the condescending comments so I went with a different realtor and, by the way Mary, bought my first home.

Mary Rawls was always very kind to me. I had an issue in an older house i was renting from her where the bottom glass half of a door collapsed leaving my home exposed to the outdoors. This was in winter so I was worried about my heating, critters coming in and the half irrational fear of a burglary. I was stressed even more so since this happened on a Sunday after 5. I figured nothing was going to be done. I called Mary to report it and to my surprise she answered. Apparently the number that was given to me was a cellphone and she explained to me she was at a child's birthday party but assured me the problem would be fixed. Extremely rude and unprofessional! During our application, as my husband was explaining his business structure, Mary Rawls actually Shushed him in mid sentence! Later that evening we discussed it and sent her a polite email thanking her for her time and informing her we were withdrawing our application as we felt uncomfortable with the way the process was conducted. Late the following day we receive a call from Mary to discuss the application. We explained we had already sent her an email the day before stating we were withdrawing. She said, "oh, I haven't gotten around to looking at my emails yet". As my husband tried to convey why we withdrew, she talked over him again! I had sent an email requesting a viewing of a house that I had seen on Trulia. There was a response within a few hours stating that the property had already been rented and asked if there was anything she could do to further assist me. I sent an email back saying yes, I would love some help. I get another email back within another few hours with the exact same response that the listing was already rented and asking if there was she could do to help me. I tried once more and again, I got the same response. Finally I sent her an email stating that I can't believe she has an email if she doesn't even read it.
