In July of 2025, my listing got an offer and the buyer used Kelly Title. I had heard of them and thought it would be fine. This was one of the worst closings I'd had on a listing. All of the documents were sent to an Abigail, who is apparently the assistant to the processor. She was also told it was an estate sale, and the proceeds would be wired to another title company so the seller could purchase a new home. She told us that was fine and there was no issue. Processor came into the file, reviewed the wire form, and said the signature was wrong and a new one had to be done. No issue. The day of the closing, we are informed of 2 things. 1. I hope this review leads to positive internal changes. I used this title company based on a recommendation from my trusted realtor. The company collected funds in advance to pay local taxes and mailed cheques with no tracking or verification. The tax payment was never received, and the company failed to confirm receipt. I later received a notice from Jersey City stating my home would be sold at auction, leaving me less than two weeks—further disrupted by holidays—to fix the issue. The reimbursement cheque they issued also bounced, pulling funds back out of my account. Recovering the money required escalation across myself, my realtor, and my mortgage company.
