Hillside Village Apartments

I had a fantastic experience with the team at Hillside Village Apartments, especially with Christopher. From the start, he was incredibly responsive, answering my questions within minutes and making me feel valued. I currently live here, and also lived here as a child from birth to 14 years old, and I must say that this complex is VERY overpriced. The location is ideal for Ridgefield locals and commuters, however the quality of the apartment is very poor. We moved in with things already broken, and within the two years we’ve been back in this complex they have gotten significantly worse. In the winter, plowing shoveling and icing the property seems to be the least of their concerns. Whether we get an inch of snow, or a foot of snow, they aren’t very concerned about how icy and dangerous the sidewalks get, and I’ve slipped and fallen almost every walk I’ve taken my dog on.

I can’t believe this happened to us! We had a tour scheduled today at 1:00 PM, which was confirmed multiple times. We arrived right on time — only to find the leasing office completely closed. We called every number available, and no one answered. We waited for over 30 minutes, and another couple who also had a 1:00 PM tour was left waiting too. This is absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable. We drove 45 minutes to get there, only to have more than two hours of our time completely wasted. After reading other reviews, I realized this isn’t an isolated incident. Other people have experienced the exact same issue, and the leasing office always gives the same excuse — that another showing took longer than expected. That’s simply unacceptable. I arrived today, Sunday, October 19, for my 2:00 PM viewing and found the management office closed. I drove from Queens, spent money on tolls and gas, and waited 45 minutes with no response. Being seven months pregnant made this even more inconvenient and disappointing. If this is how prospective tenants are treated, I can only imagine the experience of current residents.

After all the mold issues I’ve had in this apartment since I’ve been living here and didn’t getting anything back but a “I’m sorry” and finally spreading something across the floor to try and stop it. We’ve now received a letter stating if your rent isn’t paid on the 1st day of each month they will start legal fees which is an additional almost $400 added to your 2000 or more rent. Insane… Although rent is due on the first, things do happen. This is terrible, Other managements in New Jersey give residents at least until the 5th of every month.
