Heckaman Homes

I would not recommend a Heckman home to anyone. Do not believe it when they say it's built under tighter tolerances then a stick built. They use inferior products. And piece your home together with whatever scrap they have left. Like using 5 pieces of scrap drip edge instead of 2 full ones. The drywall work is scraped in as well. Joints in the wall where there shouldnt be. Theres caulk and splatters of joint compound everywhere. Even on the trim work and doors. If youre paying someone to paint your house they will charge more because its not ready for paint. Cracks and nail pops through out the house. Outside outlets that don't work. And your siding is stapled tight to the wall instead of hanging it loose so it can flex with the temperatures outdoors. The cabinets in the bathrooms were not

Horrible quality, terrible experience truly and I’ll be paying for it for 30 years. My house is less than 3 years old and my cabinets are already falling apart. And these are the upgraded cabinets. They also use the cheapest possible materials, they used non latex caulk instead of drywall mud to fix cracks. Now when you go to paint even the same seam will have multiple different materials so it is impossible to know where to fix until the paint doesn’t adhere. They specifically recommend not painting for a year so their warranty is up before you find these defects.

Quality was poor. They forgot several of the items we paid extra for. Getting them to fix anything was like pulling teeth and then getting them to truly fix the issue and not do some cheap half effort fix was a whole new battle. Would recommend going somewhere else.

My husband and I started the building process with Heckaman Homes at the end of May and by the end of June our house was set. Honestly, the manufacturing and setting of our house was the fastest and smoothest part of the home buying/building process. Heckaman Homes had a variety of floorplan options, but we fell in love with two different homes so they worked with us to combine them into one. Our spacious kitchen is our favorite part of the house (pictured below), and the process to pick out our counters, cabinets, sinks, lights, flooring, and everything else was simple yet we had lots of different options. The day they set the house and finished the roof (literally all in one day) was one we will remember forever. Our great contractor was also really important to this process.

If you are deciding whether or not to build a Heckaman Home, let me help you: DON'T. We had ours built in 2022/2023. It's been a complete disappointment. Absolute shoddy workmanship. Our floors sound like the house will fall into the basement at any minute. The quality is a joke...too many mistakes to fully list here. My cabinets are literally falling apart and Heckaman has refused to make them right since Day 1. Outside outlets don't work and Heckaman gave up on fixing them. Drywall is a joke...numerous nail pops on every wall. Trim work looks like a nail-gun-happy toddler installed it. Materials used to build our dream home are the lowest quality they could possibly use. We bought because we believed the videos that "great quality and care" goes into Heckaman Home builds.
