Glendale Apartments

Glendale Apartments are a hidden gem for anyone looking for just the basics in Del Ray/Old Town. Quick walk to the Braddock metro as well as to the restaurants and shops in Del Ray, but with the added bonus of a quiet, residential area with green space. Plenty of parking for all of the units, and utilities are included in rent - which is definitely still quite a bit lower than rent at a lot of the new buildings being built in the surrounding area. The few maintenance issues I had were taken care of within 24 hours, too. The kitchens are a bit small and do not come with dishwashers or microwaves, and laundry is in the basement of some buildings - but the few inconveniences were well worth it for the price, location, and everything else.

Was a decent apartment. Rent is cheap for proximity to metro and proximity to del Ray Downton. No utilities bill either. However, the facilities are run down. Flooring felt week in some areas of the place. Had a crazy downstairs neighbor who complained constantly about us walking around after 8 pm, even though we were pretty quiet. Paint started chipping and cracking in some areas. A/c in the bedroom cooled down only that room in the summer, so it was hot in the living room and kitchen during the summer. Cons: No dishwasher, washer/dryer a building away, no central a/c, garbage at the end of the block, nothing more than a 6 month lease with month to month after, and cockroaches.
