Ernst is/was in the process of acquiring the building I reside in for almost 2 years now. Unfortunately it seems they are purposely trying to drag out the sale process in an effort to avoid paying out tenants. At least they should provide tenants an update with the buyout process, but they have not. I suspect that they are trying to have as many tenants move out without a payout so they can gut out the apartments and build condos/ new apartments while charging the highest possible market-rate rent. Because of my experience with Ernst, I would not recommend anyone to rent any of the homes that they manage. So far I just see a poor management company with lackluster service. I have live on Sheridan for approximately 2 weeks and I feel like a prisoner in my own home. The mice are absolutely ridiculous ! I have reached out to maintenance for assistance several times with no aid. 9 mice in 2 weeks. I have tried traps, patching holes etc. however, I’m no exterminator. I write this review with tears in my eyes as I listen to mouse traps snap. I’m exhausted! I can’t sleep at night! I wish I could give 0 stars. Don’t move here EVER !!

I wouldn’t suggest any of their properties for rent! The properties are overpriced, and has roaches. The workers are very unprofessional and nonchalant when it comes to apartment fixes and issues. I have been harassed numerous of times while staying here by the maintenance staff and neighbors. There are always people playing loud music during the week and weekend. The building makes loud noises during the night and morning. It sounds like a machine banging against the wall. (Everyone complains about it!) The smoke detectors don’t work. There’s always trash in the hallway so it stinks. I can go on but in short find another property that’s more professional, I’m sure it will be the same price.

These people are obvious crooks. They do not respond to text, email, phone call, nothing. Even the building is locked and they are never at the office. Our intercom system for building access has been out for over a month, causing residents to be locked out of the building, and we can’t even reach the people we’re paying thousands of dollars to per month. What was the point of buying takoma flats knowing you were slum lords incapable of managing the property? They’re playing with people’s livelihoods and they don’t care. I’ll be filing complaints with the city this week.

I have lived here at Kenyon East since 2018 and seen so many changes in this building down to throwing food out the windows. I have seen so many move outs it’s crazy: Tenants do not stay here long enough to know faces. Since being I have experienced theft and management team who doesn’t listen or take their time to address a situation right away. Now we have different characteristics of people here and there has been people from different areas coming in and out leaving doors open and unopened and management does nothing. You cant believe everything the management team nor owner because they will lie and they will try to turn it around to fix for a temporary situation. I no feel safe here in this building.
