I rented from Brown-Carrera Realty from 2022 until moving out in June of 2025. EJF Rentals took over the company in January of 2025 and their Leesburg offices, and my experience went downhill from there. Throughout my tenancy, whenever I submitted repair requests, I was repeatedly told that the “owner didn’t want to pay” for them, so nothing ever got fixed. When it came time to move out, I scheduled a move-out inspection and even took time off work to attend. On the day of the inspection, Ms. Afable from the leasing office canceled it the day of the inspection and rescheduled for the following week — a date I couldn’t attend due to work obligations. Most of the reviews here are for brown Carrera, who used to run this page. Brown Carrera was great. They managed the property we rented for years without issue. They were bought out by EJF, some bigger conglomerate blob out of DC. Ejf was far, far worse. If I had questions I could come to the office to talk to Teri and the staff who I believe previously worked with Brown Carrera and they were quite helpful. But every time we tried to get in contact with anyone at EJF with a 202 area code they would not reply to our emails, they would send us form letters with completely incorrect information. I would highly recommend Chris Fitzpatrick. Long story short last year around mid October I started to look for a place to relocate in DC area because of my new job. It turns out that my new company allowed me to renegotiate terms to continue to work, remote, therefore not having to be in DC at this time. Chris’s communication was outstanding throughout the 3 months we worked together to find a place for me that was affordable to rent. And even after all the hard work he had done in those three months, still treated me with total upmost respect when I told him that I was no longer needing to move to DC. EJF is NOT Brown-Carrera. EJF is a horrible company who took over Brown-Carrera's rental properties earlier this year. They charged us for storm door damages that were done by extremely high wind gusts. I provided photos for proof that the door was not installed correctly with a proper wind chain and so they kept $500 of our security deposit to install a new door for the new tenant. I had previously given Brown-Carrera 5 stars when we moved into the property over a year ago but now this foreign company, EJF, bought them out and they don't even deserve 1 star. All these great reviews are for Brown-Carrera NOT for EJF. I have reported them to the BBB and will never stop fighting for what is right. They kept our money for damages that were done by nature. They won't pay for it because the
