Being a property manager is such a difficult job. Tenants, unit owners and board members always barking. Tom is the PM of a condo complex that we own property in. Recently we had a gas leak that started around 9pm on a Friday. The gas meters are located in an area I didn’t have access to & SCG needed to shut the gas off. I called their office after hours & Tom responded within minutes. He headed to his office around 9:30pm to help us get access to the unit. Everything worked out and repairs were made within 24 hours. I appreciated the willingness to assist on a weekend after hours.

Our 115 Short Beach Road elevator has not been working since last May! And at times prior would be down for months at a time. I had phoned the company to ask when the repairs were supposed to start, only to be met with unprofessional rudeness by the owner! I felt as though he didn't care at all about anyone who lived in the building. Furthermore, I mentioned that the laundry room vent pipes hadn't been cleaned in years, and the banister on the 3rd floor has been broken for well over 2 months. I'm also not sure if there is an actual superintendent or maintenance person in the building, but they seem to be non-existent. Halls reek of cigarette smoke and now, marijuana, and the carpeting is pulling off the stairs, which can lead to someone falling. The manager is rude, noncaring, and

Lived in one of their properties for 14 years, and dealing with them was consistently unpleasant. The receptionist is rude, the owner is as lazy as he is greedy, and they are completely hands off when it comes to dealing with issues of any sort. D.A. Rich is very quick to try and put cost for any issue on the unit owner before a problem is even evaluated, especially things like plumbing and heating. Emergencies are not dealt with in a timely fashion, management of storage units is nonexistent, and the powers that be are very apathetic towards amenities such as emergency key boxes and washers/dryers. Put it this way: there is a reason they have a flat one-star review from multiple people.

Managing a condo complex is a thankless job. You have to try and accommodate a variety of people with different temperaments and expectations. Since people in CT tend to be sour to begin with, you are automatically behind the eight ball in trying to make anyone happy. I can tell you that in my experience, they were quick in responding to issues that I had and the quality of work and repairs they performed were above average. Not perfect, but I can say without reservation that they have been the best manager our small complex has had in the past 30 years.

DA Rich exceptionally rude and unprofessional. They are also verbally confrontational, when it's entirely unnecessary, nor warranted. Most requests for information fall on deaf ears. Having dealt with DA Rich directly and indirectly for many years, I would look elsewhere when seeking a Condo Association Mgmt company.
