Carriage House

My partner and I moved into this complex in mid-June of 2023 and ended our lease early by the end of July 2023. Upon moving in, our apartment was filthy. There was food residue on the stove, pee on our toilet seat, our bathroom floor was severely rotting and the list goes on. I talked to Michelle, a worker who led my partner and I into the apartment, about how dirty the apartment was and the only response we received was that “tours had walked through and that cleaners had been through 2x”. Even if tours and cleaners had come through multiple times, it was clearly still a dirty apartment and not move-in ready. Michelle never showed empathy or apologized for the state that the apartment was in. Instead, she was on her phone the entire time my partner and I attempted to document complaints.

I wish I was informed of this and was able to get into my apartment before SVN tried charging me $6K. Horrible apartment complex. They also nailed my AC into the wall and kept it. So we're disrespectful too, apparently. It's close to the campus but really not worth the cost. You'd genuinely be more wise to just finance a house for your kid in this area and sell it when they're done with it rather than going for this place. Carriage House will scam you.

I lived here for a year and, boy howdy, do not go here. Whatever you do, if you think it's a good commute or cheap rent, look elsewhere! From my experience, when I was set to move in the kitchen was being renovated-- I had no kitchen sink for a good while, the sliding glass door to the balcony I paid extra for didn't open, and I was getting wasps in my apartment. I asked if they could prorate my rent until the sliding glass door was fixed but they said no and also said they wouldn't come out to fix it until Spring when I moved in October 2021. They insisted the wasps, yellow jackets specifically, were BEES I knew something was up. They were trying to duck the issue. I had to find out where the wasps were even coming from myself. I lived here for about 9 months. One of the most friendly property managers and maintenance. They are kind and responsible people. Although there is just 1-2 guys for maintenance, they do their best to solve your problem asap. The units are not renovated but for the price that you pay it is really great. The heat and hot water is also included in the rent which is a great option. There is a laundry room for each building at the basement and you need coins for the washer and dryer. It's so close to Syracuse university and the shuttle stop is just 2-3 minutes walking from the complex.

As a current resident of this apartment complex I can say that unfortunately my experience has been one of theft. I do not know if this is indicative of the whole complex, but the entry to each building is unlocked, meaning anyone can walk right up to your apartment door. So, I have had packages stolen from my doorstep, and even my floor mat was taken! On top if that we have had things taken from our storage, which is on the basement floor, and you guessed it, anyone can walk right up to. This happen to a neighbor in our building too. We have filed a police report before, but with no results. We have contacted management before, no changes. So, take my experience as just one person, but my experience has not been what I hoped it would be.
