My HVAC and AC hasn't worked since the big storm and maintenance hasn't fixed it after being notified and being in my apartment 3 times. Nobody is able to explain what the problem is and it is a PAIN and downright impossible getting through to the leasing team over phone. I visited them at their office last week and they explained that they'll send an email shortly and several units ar experiencing the same issue - I haven't gotten an email or a timeline of when the issue will be fixed. I tried calling them today and couldn't get through to them, only the front desk person who said she'll "pass on the message". They sit feet apart from eachother. Ridiculous. If you were looking for an apartment here, just know that you'll have no support if something goes wrong in your unit.
This building could be a wonderful place to live, but it is left in such poor care that it is ultimately a disappointment. The property itself is attractive, yet the lack of upkeep overshadows its potential and makes it a frustrating and, frankly, sad place to call home. The elevators malfunction almost weekly, with one left out of service for several months. The hallway carpets carry a persistent foul odor, the windows have not been cleaned in the entire two years I have lived here despite this being standard for a building of this size and cost, and the rooftop furniture is dirty and torn make some of it is unusable. Even the fire pit has sat broken for months without repair. Management’s practices make matters worse. Instead of prioritizing the building’s condition, residents are charg
Moving to this property was a legitimate nightmare. I sincerely had no idea what I was in for despite the treatment I received from the moment I entered the leasing office. The horror began that very moment. Tatiana, the leasing agent at the time, stated that the rents were too expensive and that I should seek an apartment in another part of town. The property also had a $100 move-special at the time. However, she also stated that I would not qualify because of poor credit. Keep in mind that the assumptions were made before I even submitted an application. Unfortunately, I needed a place quickly as I was relocated by the District Attorney's Office due to a hate crime against me for being transgender. Unbeknownst to me that I was moving into a hate crime trap. I reluctantly applied anyway
DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS BUILDING. BLUF: I moved into this apartment building because I had yet to live in a 'modern' building with nice amenities included. My tour experience was fine, I was not shown the unit I would move in to but otherwise, the leasing team was pleasant. Fast forward to my experience living there. IF I could of gotten out my lease earlier, I would've. On the face of it, a $2337 monthly rent for a 1 bedroom in this part of the city is pretty good. After fees and ungodly expensive utilities, My rent was well over $2600 every month. This apartment is an impersonal fee trap - and trying to book any amenities for personal use like the extra room or rooftop for an event, are hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Not to mention the internet has had several outages, without any in
TLDR: -Joseph Emsley's review is accurate -This would otherwise be a 2 star review, but the pain of every interaction with UDR is a constant reminder that everything is a battle and negotiation that defines the experience -Most of the time, the building is fine and the rooms and amenities are fine -Great location ( close to AdMo, Logan Circle, Shaw, U St, Columbia Heights) -You will inevitably have to deal with hidden fees, dead-ends with UDR management, and have to expend unnecessary effort to get your answers -I, and the vast majority of neighbors I talked to, will never live here again nor recommend this property Longer Review: While you have to take apartment reviews with a grain of salt, there ARE managed apartments with great reviews (I moved from one, just wanted a newer more centr
