This is the third property I've purchased, and it's the first time I've ever had an issue with a title company. The agent received the paperwork for the sale approximately three months prior to the closing date. I have a super tight schedule and scheduled my closing time three weeks in advance. I also called to confirm this time and the wire instructions two days before closing. Twenty-five minutes before their office closed, the day before, the person I was working with both called and emailed to say she does not have my paperwork ready. Can I move my appointment to a later time? By the time I get these messages, it's over an hour after her office closed, and I have no way to communicate with her. Careless work like they were sleepwalking through the transaction. I was the seller and they did not have the attention to detail required for a real estate transaction including not filling in forms completely and having no idea how to handle a seller with a non-owner spouse. Diane Myers said she would address it in the documents, but didn't even after being provided the correct legal wording. She did not provide the documents beforehand and seemed surprised that I was reading before signing. And we needed to transfer the HOA passwords to the buyer during their closing and these were left on the front desk public area where anyone could pick them up (I had to ask them to put them behind the desk but perhaps with the buyer's closing doc might have been more secure?).
