Canaan Homes built our new home in 2017. We were very happy with the process and the results. The owner John and his son Nick were very professional and helpful. They assisted my wife and I through the thousands of decisions and helped guide us to find products and finishes we wanted while staying in our desired budget. We loved the results and had instant equity from design ideas they helped us with. John was a framer for years before starting the business so he knows the correct process to building a strong home. John built our dream home 18 years ago and it is time tested proof of the quality construction that John does. We still get compliments from guests that love the finish work and design. Over the years, we have seen neighbors have issues with roofing, windows, plumbing, electrical, etc, but our Canaan home just keeps going strong. We lost our house in the 2012 Waldo Fire and were lucky enough to find John as a builder. Let's just say that many of our friends who rebuilt had many problems with their builders, from quality of the work, to deadlines not being met, to many problems after they moved in. We had none of that. Because John is a small custom builder, he was on the job site most every day. If something wasn't done to his satisfaction, he made sure it was corrected. When we wanted to change a few things up, he made them happen. He gave us a realistic bid with quality items built in, i.e., we didn't find out half way through the rebuild that the bid included builder grade carpet. No, everything was first class all the way. He told us we'd be in by May 15 of 2013 and handed us the keys on May 1 instead.

John Bridges, the main man himself at Canaan Company, is one of the most highly qualified, well respected builders I've ever met. Always a pleasure doing business with John and I wouldn't hesitate asking him to build us another house! He is very fair, terrifically creative and always willing to bend over backwards for his customers. Equally important, John always considers "time to be of the essence". He is a master at coordinating the process! With John's vast experience in building custom homes, he has the majority of the costs immediately at hand and knows the preferred methods for every phase of construction so as to get the job done correctly. Nothing much gets by John either. He typically sets up camp right on the job site and everything is closely watched, a very hands on builder.
