Calvert House Apartments

I usually don't write apartment reviews, but Calvert House is wonderful! It was designed back when they knew how to build quality buildings with character and a sturdy structure. The trees are well maintained and often you feel like it's an oasis in the forest because of the gorgeous tree canopy which is so rare to find because most landlords don't want to bother. There's residents who have lived at CH for decades and others who are newbies, so it's a nice mix of older and younger folks, but everyone is friendly. Addressing a previous review, each floor has natural light and plenty of overhead lighting, so I'm confused about their comment. And "popcorn" ceiling are actually more expensive to install and heavily dampen noise, so I'm not sure why one would complain about that when it's

They requested a guarantor who makes five times the rent per month gross income, which was $10,550.00 per month for me. This was upsetting because they did not disclose this before I applied for it. I just wasted my application fee $50. Also, their reply to emails is slow. Sometimes, they just ignore your email.

Enjoyed the two years of living here. The apartments are spacious and quiet and I never had any issues. The best part was the maintenance - they always showed up the same day I filed a request, no matter how big or small the ask was.

I moved into Calvert in June and I’ve had such a positive experience! My apartment is amazing- very clean, spacious, and great lighting! My process of touring, applying for, and signing my lease was not only easy, but the leasing office was eager to help me. I feel safe living here during the age of COVID-19- we’re required to wear masks when inside and not in individual apartments. I also regularly take advantage of the communal spaces, specifically the gym and the outdoor patio with grills and I’ve loved my time with both! I’m even in the process of trying to convince my friend who is moving to DC soon to move into her own studio in Calvert!

Honestly fantastic location, and great price for a studio compared to the other places around. All utilities included and very quick maintenance for broken appliances. I lived here for a year and wish I could stay longer. Staff can sometimes be cold but we can often be cold at work too. I recommend moving here if you want to be near restaurants, Metro, and a beautiful park. Building is generally very quiet and units have NO pest issues. I had a great experience!
