Blue Ridge Log Cabins LLC

Amazing company. Take a tour of their plant and it will surprise you. The founder is a great guy. We were surprised to see that Blue Ridge isn’t owned by some large corporate conglomerate. The owner is there to shake your hand, and he personally runs the company’s daily operations. We were not able to find anyone that can build a cabin, even close to as quickly as Blue Ridge. It’s also surprising how efficiently they can build such a quality cabin and still be more affordable than most companies.

My wife (Sue) and I plan to retire to the upcountry in a few years. It will be a nice change of pace from New York City! We decided to build a log cabin home and luckily found a beautiful property in Landrum, SC. Both of us are engineers and have been involved in major design and construction projects in the New York City area for almost 40 years including airport terminals, hospitals and the $4B World Trade Center Transportation Hub. Therefore, we are quite familiar with all that can go wrong with a construction project, particularly with us not being in the area during construction. I have NOT bought a home here. This is just a review for a quick stop to tour the homes and talk with the staff. We got there a bit late but the staff talked with us about pricing, gave us information on their homes, and allowed us to stay a little passed closing time so that we could tour the homes. While I do think that it's very expensive, they are beautiful and the staff seems great from our surface level meet. The homes are stunning and I've uploaded pictures for viewing. Five years ago my husband and I were getting ready to build a cabin near Boone, NC. We had heard numerous horror stories over the years from friends who had had traditional site built houses constructed and constant delays, running over budget, problems with permits and passing inspection, etc. While researching alternatives, my husband came across Blue Ridge Log Cabins. We had built a home with this company in 2010. It was a great experience. We used to go to their seminars and speak about the company and our home. Jump ahead to 2019. We decided to build another log home. No question it would be a Blue Ridge. However we did not realize the rude awakening we were in for. Salesman, initial phase was great. Then came the build. There were some delays, which were understandable given the times. But then they pushed to have the house set. And then it sat there for 6 months. We were told 6-8 weeks. When we got in to see it, my heart fell. Dirty logs; the only thing complete was the bathroom, no cabinets or windows. We were told in January the crew was on its way for completion.
