I lived at the same location with Kaufmann Properties for five years. If they had had a suitable property available at the time of my move, I would have stayed with them. I never once had an issue with anyone associated with them: owner, property manager, staff. Everyone was polite, responsive and understanding. The property is well maintained and the requests for renters care while living there, are understandle and reasonable. They are transparent on fees and I had no issues getting my deposit back (granted I do tend to be more careful with my living space so it looked as good as new when I moved). One star is actually not appropriate for the experience I had. I have never rented with this company (thank GOD), but I viewed a property on State Street owned by this company, and the property manager was unbelievably rude to me, my friend, and my family throughout the whole process of inquiring about this property. My friend's family owns funeral homes that are over 200 years old, and when she asked the property manager about some of the damages in the house, and she talked down to her and claimed it was just because it was an old house and was not fixable (it definitely was). I told her that I'm in a sorority and she told me she didn't like to rent to people in greek life because they always "ruin the property," which is blatant stereotyping and very disrespectful. I was evicted from this apartment because of this review******* Since my first publication, management has been more friendly and they replaced my toilet which is much obliged. I'm changing my review from hating it to its okay and will further more assess the situation. I am a current tenant with Kaufmann Properties. I will not be renewing my lease when it comes time. My first year was great, however some new management has taken over and it just seems more often then not, I have an issue with them. From no explanation as to why my water bill doubled in a month or how it is divided among the building, to making me take down personal decorations such as a tapestry, basic amenities not working such as my oven, and rude conversations with the front desk, have all pushed me out the building

I'm currently on my third lease with Kaufmann Properties. I haven't always had a great experience, but since the new property manager took over, everything has been amazing. It's a complete 180 from the old management! Any issues are resolved quickly and she's always happy to help. Maintenance usually comes out the same day and they let me know if there's going to be a delay.

I was hesitant to share my awful experience because of the backlash created by the property manager towards others. But I think it's important for other students and their parents to understand what you will get yourself into by renting from this business. FYI I lived neatly and paid my rent on time, so I didn't have too many issues. But their policies are ridiculous. 1. If you have a pet or want a pet, forget it. Even a declawed cat will mean a pet deposit equal to one month's rent, and considering their astronomical rents, that's a lot. 2. You only have 2.5 days to pay your rent for the month. Otherwise, you incur HUGE fees. So if your check isn't in the drop box by 3pm on the third, you will pay $40, then like $10 per day starting the next day. Expect an eviction warning. 3. They will
