Assess Construction

We hired Assess Construction for a residential renovation project in Beaumont, TX. We paid approximately $95,000 toward the contract. We also spent approximately $20,000 on materials in an attempt to continue progress after learning the business did not have the funds to purchase needed materials. Throughout the project, agreed deadlines and milestones were not met. Work slowed significantly and eventually stopped before completion. Over the course of six months, we were constantly told "two more weeks" or given deadlines that were never close to being met. We later learned that multiple subcontractors had not been paid despite our payments to the contractor, and at least one lien was filed against our property. Recently had Assess construction do a bathroom remodel, they took out an old fiberglass bathtub/shower combo and installed a super nice custom walk-in tile shower with grab assist bars and a custom bench for my mother to sit on while she takes a shower. They also did a fixed sliding glass shower door, new fixtures, sink faucet, exhaust fan with built-in heater, and a new LED light in the walk-in closet in the bathroom. They did an amazing job, the crew was very friendly and they showed up every day on time at the time they said they would be there. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reputable company to do a bathroom remodel.

I want to be transparent that I was not the direct client, but I have had a front-row seat to the stress this renovation caused for someone very close to me. What stood out most was the breakdown in communication, missed milestones, and the confusion surrounding subcontractor payments. Watching a family navigate unfinished work while still trying to act in good faith was incredibly concerning. My advice to anyone considering this company is to insist on detailed written updates, lien waivers, and proof of payment to subcontractors at every stage.
