I do not recommend using Scott Davis of Apex Home Inspections in Berkeley Springs, WV for home buyer inspections. He failed to identify several obvious serious safety and code violations during our homebuyer inspection, and correcting the violations we have identified to date has cost us more than $14,000. Two issues that we have identified so far are the wood-burning stove and the electrical panel. The stove itself was compromised by rust; it lacked an adequate non-flammable hearth; the single-wall stove pipe had insufficient offset; and the chimney was improperly installed. These were all critical violations that could easily have led to a fire, yet Scott characterized the installation and components as serviceable.
