They have a poor reputation for good reason. Not easy to deal with and you may never get your security deposit back. I had to go after them months later. I even assigned my apartment to a friend so they had zero reason to keep it. Then despite living there many years they will deduct fees for holding it, super unethical but wasn’t worth suing. If they had any brains they would use a high yield account. As for my apartment there were no smoke detectors installed. I only found out when my building was on fire and the fire department showed up and inspected (I had to let them into the building). Then I was living in n apartment with smoke damage and had to wash the walls myself and leave till it aired out! i'm a few years late in posting my review of AJ clarke. honestly, it's for the better as i'm now living in an apartment complex owned by a different company that is much, much less proactive, responsible, and helpful than AJ Clarke. we always had a great super onsite who was available and communicative, it was easy to be able to get stuff fixed, and if there were ever any issues with the unit, it was quick and easy to get it addressed.

I've lived in an AJ Clarke managed building for 5 years and have had a great experience. The team has always been responsive, flexible, and accommodating. I've never had an issue getting maintenance requests quickly resolved. The building is well maintained. Would 100% live in an AJ Clarke managed building again. If you are thinking about it, you should do it!

Eric was extremely helpful and responsive throughout the lease process. Any inquiries I had he would answer me quickly over email and was willing to hop on the phone to address any questions. It was a pleasure working with him and I would not hesitate to recommend him and AJ Clarke to friends/family who are looking for an apartment in the city.

I've loved our building management - a rare statement in NYC. We've been in our apartment over a year and when the ocassional issue has come up, it's been assessed and fixed immediately. We love our super, Gonzalo, who is incredibly responsive, proactive, and truly goes above and beyond to take care of the building. He's here daily washing the steps and sorting the bins, a never ending job. Recently management has put the time and effort to update our entry with new security cameras and a locked package closet for residents. Very happy with how they take care of tenants!
