1824 Defoor Apartments

Overall my experience has been good. The maintenance team is awesome, the neighborhood is cute and well maintained, my apartment is spacious, the location is ideal, and the neighbors are quiet. If you are near the train tracks, it runs often and is ridiculously loud at times, even at night and with the shutters in the room, it's annoying at times. Despite this, I like it here. Here is my issue 1.When it was time to renew, they wanted to raise my rent $250 a month. (A resident who was leaving did warn me, but I didn't listen) It is encouraged to negotiate, but even so my renewal rate was not good, and by the time it was done I didn't have enough time to find a place and move.

So far the apartments are comfortable and the location is great. Moving in was a little stressful, I guess there was a lot going on and they didn’t get me the lease until the day I was supposed to move in and I was coming from out of state with a huge moving vehicle. Overall, the staff is very friendly and the office usually answers the phone, which is really nice. Maintenance is awesome.One really negative thing about the apartments is the bedrooms don’t have any lighting or fans, which is really odd for a place that defines themselves as luxury apartments. There’s just like a plastic covering over the spot where a fan should be. I had to buy lamps just to get lighting in the bedroom and I would say that’s a huge negative and most likely in the summer it’s gonna suck.

Proceed with caution if you value sleep, safety, and being treated with basic respect I lived at 1824 Defoor for four years. I wanted to love this place. The location is great, the maintenance team is outstanding, and the property has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, the way issues are handled by management has made it very clear to me that resident well being is not the priority. Let me start with the good. The maintenance team are the true stars of this property. They work hard, they respond quickly, and they clearly take pride in their work. They are friendly, proactive, and often feel like the only people on site who genuinely care if things are clean, working, and safe. They deserve every bit of credit. This review is way overdue!! This is my second year living here, and the only con I can think of is the train. Keep reading for all the pros. -Management and Office Staff: PROFESSIONAL – Always. Since day one. Period! RESPONSIVE - Actually answers the phones, responds to emails same day or next day depending on the time. ACCOMMODATING - Allowed me to negotiate my rent increase and completes maintenance requests around my schedule. HELPFUL - Addresses requests immediately. They change the phone number to the callbox when I travel for work to make it easier for my family. Even helped me look for lost packages. This is a great place to live! The community is clean, safe, and well-maintained. The staff is friendly, professional, and always quick to help with any questions or maintenance needs. The apartments are spacious and comfortable that make it feel like home. The location is also very convenient, close to shopping, dining, and everything you need. I would definitely recommend this apartment complex to anyone looking for a welcoming and well-managed place to live.
