It’s 4 a.m. again, and the fire alarm is blaring once more. When I look out the window, people aren’t even angry anymore - they’ve moved past outrage to complete indifference. Nobody cares at this point. And that’s exactly why, if there’s ever a real fire here, so many people will get hurt. Why? Because this place has completely destroyed any sense of urgency or trust with its endless, faulty fire alarms. Haha, you know what? Right after I posted about it yesterday, I think the management actually saw it. Guess what happened? Around 10 p.m., just as I was trying to fall asleep, the damn fire alarm went off again. This is a serious issue happening every single day, yet they didn’t even bother to send out a single notice email today. These people shouldn’t be allowed to keep this place op

This apt is a disgrace to Berkeley. Another false fire alarm blared at 4 a.m., forcing residents to stand outside in the wind wearing only T-shirts—and each time it happens, the siren screams on for a full 30 minutes. We endure two false alarms a month, always in the middle of the night, despite management’s repeated claims that the system is fixed. My food delivery was stolen, and a police report led nowhere. Fixtures and amenities are the cheapest available and break constantly. The design is problematic — when it rains, the building floods, and rainwater flows into the apartment complex. Graduate Housing is astonishingly bureaucratic—e-mails rarely get a meaningful response, let alone a solution. The way this building is run is simply unacceptable.

Fire alarm is crazy. Not enough single rooms even though this is grad housing, and they unilaterally announced that they would accept undergrads. But most of all, if you don’t want to live in a place where you constantly have to live in fear that a fire false alarm will go off even at midnight, please consider other housing.

The apartment complex is not that bad. The reviews are a bit biased because of the fire alarm issue that made a lot of people (justifiably) very angry. Some pros (which I think are not advertised) are: -The zone is calm and removed from all the rush of the city. -Bus stop in front for both 52 and 18. And it's the first stop for both, so you can always pick your seat. -It is very close to Sprouts, which makes any last minute grocery shopping very convenient. There is also some nearby restaurants on San Pablo. -There is a weekly Bear Pantry nearby in which you can get free groceries from. -It is a safe choice. You do not have to worry about scams or toxic landlords. The security deposit is way less than non-university housing (but I think it is not returned). And the unit is comfortable. -T

First off with the obvious problems: - the fire alarms going off falsely on a regular bases, even multiple times a day from any time like 3 am to 7 pm, they denied it at first but it’s been over 8 months and they keep saying they will fix it but they haven’t. - whenever it rains the inside on the building floods, someone decided it was a great idea not to build closed walls and they have loud fans in attempt to dry them but it’s just a huge waste of electricity in a place that claims to try and save it. - that brings me to my other point of the light switches in the bathroom, they are motion sensor, but you cannot keep them on so they WILL shut off if ur showering or using the bathroom for longer than 2 mins . I cant wave my hand out as they placed it behind a ledge which can’t see me i
