Wyalusing Academy

I became acquainted with Wyalusing Academy from 1986-1988. I was considered a (C.H.I.P.S) Child in Need of Help and Protective Services kid. Upon arrival at this facility, I was vocationally tested, given a full health screen, met with the laundry technician to get sized for clothing and have my name sewn into my clothing. I was placed on a unit with all girls. This particular unit has different personalities, high and low functioning residents. After academic and cognitive testing was completed, I was then moved to a coed unit. This unit was definitely a step up from the first. One of the issues I had with Wyalusing Academy was the staff, teachers, and facilities workers treated every child in their care, the same. I was there from June of 1987 into 1992 5 years of hell the staff would kick you out you in a corner and put a dumpster hat on I was on unit 3 and back then it was co edd but it was hell it should have been. Taken care of them

I was there from 93-mid 94, The staff was VERY ABUSIVE! If you’d say one word wrong they’d put hands on you and most likely get thrown to the ground, And would be restrained and sat on. My one friend was pregnant at the facility and the staff caused her to have a miscarriage. Another one of my friends got their tooth knocked out and another friend got their nose broken by being kicked in the face. There was only 1 nice staff there at the time, his name was Wayne. They should have been shut down way before 2013. While I was there I BEGGED my mom to get me outta there and to file a report against them. Of course the staff convinced my mom that I was lying and that was my way of Manipulating her so I could go home. To this day I still have severe PTSD if something reminds me of Wyalusing

I was there from 97 to 200 know as chantell Jennings on unit 6 I don’t remember much because I was kept on drugs that I didn’t need because they missed understood me. They didn’t teach you how to live I think the real world they just wanted to control you. I don’t really care for the staff they were very abusive and used physical holding for no reasons.

I was there from 00-02 and unit 6 was for the crazy girls. I was there it was mr.smith, Mr.Fitzgerald unit six was upstairs from us because we went downstairs for lunch 😒awoled a few times😡
