Village 21 Apartments

Overall we had a positive stay at the Sonder. Reasonable price, decent location, good amenities, spacious, I would stay again. A few negatives, elevator has been broken for an extended time. Even number rooms face the busy streets and it is very noisy, pool view would be much better. Nothing for Marriott status. Having Platinum typically comes with benefits, not at the Sonder. We had no issues with self check in, and had no real concerns.

Sonder is a great brand if you want someplace to stay that feels more like your own home away from home. The apartments are generally nice and with all of the essentials you need. My apartment at this location was on par with other Sonder properties, but the property amenities were a bit lacking. The pool is extremely shallow and only open from dawn to dusk. No evening soak after a long day.

I have stayed with Sonder 4–5 times before, but this experience was unacceptable. I booked a prepaid reservation in May for Vanderbilt Parents Weekend in late September. While sitting on the plane to Nashville, I received an email saying my reservation was canceled with no explanation. I had to make three phone calls, send messages through the Sonder app, and email multiple addresses at Sonder and Marriott before finally receiving a response four days later. The only resolution offered was a refund, with no effort to help me find another room during one of the busiest weekends in Nashville. By that point, availability was scarce and prices had skyrocketed, leaving me with significant added expense and frustration. Granted, I'm not a millennial so there was some learning curve with communication. I would receive text updates, but then some updates were only in app or in email. I don't really check all those all the time, so when we got there the room # had been changed but we didn't know because no text was sent. After calling customer service many times during this booking and verifying process, I am reluctant to book through Sonder again. Now, let's get to the room. The bathroom shower floor was disgusting and moldy. We had to go to the store and buy bleach cleaner so we could shower. There was no bath wash provided, only hair products, so we had to buy body wash as well, The little soap on the sink was paper wrapped but no dish to put it in so it was always wet and gross on the counter. 3rd year staying at Village and we absolutely love it. Rooms are spacious and clean. Check in process and check out is very easy and simple. Location is great with lots of stores and restaurants. Only unsatisfactory I had this year was the chairs . Def recommend maybe upgrading the chairs by the pool. The bars made it very difficult to lay or sit. Super uncomfortable. And I miss the white lounge chairs in the pool. Would love to see them next visit 😁 but other than that definitely recommend this spot!
